Some quick snapshots from the crew:
Today the Philmont crew met at the Naperville Train Station and departed at approximately 3:35 PM. They posed for a nice group photo (above) as well. During the ride today they enjoyed some beautiful vistas in the viewing cars and talked to some other Troops on the train. After passing the Mississippi River, they began to run about an hour behind due to signal issues. Later that night they essentially had their own car which allowed them some peace during the ride. Some of the adults enjoyed the Blackhawks game as well.

Today the Philmont Crew is heading out to begin their trek. There have been some changes to their itinerary due to a Wildfire that borders the south part of the Philmont Scout Ranch. The crew is leaving this morning at 10 AM on a bus to their starting point. They met up with their ranger, Zack, to start their trek. They hiked to Ponil and had lunch and root beer at the cantina. While there, they also got to brand their boots, belts and other items. They spent the night at Bent with their ranger. Total hiking for the day was 3 miles.

Hiked about 3 miles to Dan Beard camp for challenge events.

The crew hiked another 3 miles over a large hill to Rich Cabins. Here they saw some farm animals.

They hiked 6 miles to Pueblano for spar pole climbing and logging.

Alex and Mr Boyle went back to Base Camp when Alex hurt his knee during spar pole climbing. Here is Alex at the clinic:

Crew is at base camp having completed their hike. They are going out to dinner in Cimarron, NM. There will be an awards ceremony tonight as well.

Crew is heading to the Raton, NM train station as of 3:40 PM CST.
